VMware releases VMware Site Recovery Manager 1.0
VMware has released version 1.0 of its Disaster Recovery Management Solution. This is a product supplied as a plug-in Virtual Center 2.5 can handle in full disaster recovery of a server farm from a primary site to a secondary and possibly vice versa. The product, available for Virtual Infrastructure Stanrdard and Enterprise, has its strength in order to test the disaster recover without interruption of service, thus allowing the test also on mission critical service for businesses. This made possible because SRM maintains a replica of the blocks of the storage array between different sites through the pug-ins provided by the manufacturer of storage (called Storage Replication Adapter or SRA). Currently supports five storage: Dell EqualLogic, EMC, FalconStor, LeftHand Networks and NetApp.
The product is licensed per processor, and therefore requires at least two licenses, you must also averedue licenses of Virtual Center and of course two storage arrays.
