Solutions VDI and thin clients
Fever VDI continues to rise, an article by Brian Madden complicit in which the author points out that he is working on a stress test commissioned by Qumranet VDI solutions, the manufacturer of solids.
After BriForum (an event organized in the United States by Brian Madden) it seems that the VDI solutions are only three, with an obscurantism against solutions like Leostream and Provision Networks . The media battle takes on the crest of the wave solutions Citrix and VMware, while the latest articles appeared on the blog show the multimedia capabilities of Qumranet Solid, which, however, combine with evil because of the WAN link bandwidth requirements.
But what happens to clients?
One of the trump cards of VDI solutions is precisely the possibility of using the latest generation of PC Thin Client, or even better, the cost of ownership (TCO famous) is very low, almost zero maintenance of a strong and very energy more "green" than a PC (about 30 watts against 250 of a PC).
And then it rained a series of news from different handset manufacturers that announce the release of new products and especially new firmware with support for various VDI solutions.
To name a few: ChipPC, Exan, IGEL, Praim, Thinware, VXL, Wyse (strictly in alphabetical order!) All have a wide range of terminals and are working to support the various VDI solutions natively on both Windows-based systems both on proprietary solutions. In any case, all the manufacturers suggest higher-end handsets to support the multimedia functions of the different brokers.
Among the various terminals, I would point out Thinware , a startup that focused on the Italian business development, Linux-based terminals that in addition to the various remoting protocols have native support for the Provision Networks VDI solution.
Update: I came by signaling that CompuMaster Praim line terminals, as well as support for Citrix VDI solutions, Leosteam and Provision Networks has introduced native support for VMware VDM 2.1 on their machines based on Linux and Windows EC.
