Citrix ICA Client and clipboard

A function definitely appreciated the ICA client is the ability to copy / paste from your PC to the remote session and vice versa. But sometimes it can happen that this function does not behave properly!

Although the task may seem very trivial (CTRL-C and Ctrl-V), is to interface the client system events with events of the Terminal Server system. While the normal applications need only to verify that the clipboard is not empty (and thus enable the paste), the ICA client needs to know when the clipboard content changes in order to send the content to the session on the server via ' specific Virtual Channel. Windows has a mechanism to notify applications when the clipboard contents change: the application must register itself in the so-called "clipboard chain." The last application is recorded in this chain must be concerned to report the change to the application later, and so on. If an application does not properly report the change of the clipboard after the application, the chain breaks and the ICA client may not receive notification of the change of the contents of the clipboard.

Among the tools of Citrix there is a special program to try to "fix" the chain of clipboard: Clipboard Chain Repair (also available in 64bit version ).

The use of this program is very simple: just unzip the zip and run the program. In the event that the program does not work may be necessary to start by specifying the session on which you intend to intervene.
