Citrix released XenApp 5.0 (Release to Web)
It was in the air, but yesterday Citrix has released version 5.0 of Web XenApp, the new name of Presentation Server and more popular, even the most well known as MetaFrame.
Along with the release, available for Windows Server 2003 and 2008, also come new clients with their names: XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps (aka ICA Client 11), XenApp Web Plugin (ICA Web Client aka) and XenApp Plugin for Streamed Apps (aka Streaming Client). From tomorrow (September 10) you will get new licenses and media kit.
The version for Windows Server 2003 is based on the core XenApp 4.5 on which they are updated only a few components. Among the important new feature is definitely the new Resource Manager powered by EdgeSight for Enterprise, in addition to not allow Citrix to develop and support two products with similar functions, will be starting for numerous upgrade to full version of EdgeSight, already available to users with Platinum licenses.
To download the installation files you only have to www.mycitrix.com with a valid account, go to the download section and select XenApp 5. Keep in mind that the version of Windows Server 2008 is designed to fit on a DVD, the setup files occupy 1.15GB fact.
