Hyper-V Server 2008 available for download
As anticipated, Microsoft has decided to release a free version of its hypervisor, which, after 30 days of the announcement, is now available for download. This is a version a bit 'more limited than the original, but completely free: supports up to 4 physical CPUs (socket), 32GB of RAM and a maximum of 128 virtual machines .... I would say enough for the vast majority of the Italian market!
Inside the Parent Partition of the hypervisor is instead an even more lightweight Edition Server Core, which houses the kernel, drivers and a few other components essential to the operation of the product. For the configuration you need to access the console for at least set the network parameters, after which you can access remotely from a console (Hyper-V Manager) or System Center Virtual Machine Manager (when available).
