Citrix releases XenServer Enterprise for free and the new Citrix Essentials suites
The rumor was circulated last week, but today, the opening of Cannes for VMworld partners, the news was made official. Citrix has decided to release a free version of its enterprise virtualization platform, which thus becomes the first enterprise-class solzione completely free.
With this move, Citrix intends to capture a major slice of the market in the world of virtualization: Unlike VMware virtualization to the home of Fort Lauderdale is just a slice of their revenue agreements with Microsoft and show how its strategy in the field of hypervisor is moving on the management and advanced features of integration rather than the hypervisor itself.
Analyzing the proposals currently available free of charge, not even a fair comparison: the free version of XenServer Enterprise includes all the features because of interfacing with the storage, high reliability (integrated solution in the product, but developed from Marathon Technologies ) and XenMotion.
In parallel with this great news, Citrix announced Citrix Essentials for XenServer, a suite that extends the management capabilities of XenServer platform. Among the features of Citrix Essentials for XenServer:
- Automated management of laboratories
- Advanced Storage Integration using Citrix StorageLink ™
- Service server provisioning
- Workflow Orchestration via Citrix ™ WorkStudio
- Accompanied by advanced high-availability load balancing workload
Citrix Essentials is available in Enterprise and Platinum:
