New benchmark ESX, Hyper-V, XenServer

It is now known that the VMware EULA prohibits publishing benchmark metodoligia which has not been approved by VMware, why it is virtually impossible to find online comparisons of performance. But someone has done it ...

Of Virtualization Review published an article that compares the three major hypervisors of time on three different load scenarios, despite the lack of the official approval by VMware.

The results are part of what we thought we could wait, but there is something new.

  • Hyper-V was definitely performing, highlighting the strength of the product, despite the young age
  • In two of three tests ESX dismostrato was far less powerful than its competitors, while in the third test, the results were largely equivalent. VMware has dismostrato however the most powerful in access to records
  • XenServer has demonstrated high performance

It 'clear that the methodology and sirultati are absolutely questionable. The most important thing is that the test is designed to highlight only the aspects of performance, without evaluating any way the completeness or manageability of the products.

Obviously there is no response from VMware that criticized the methodology and claimed the legitimacy of their EULA, just to avoid this type of testing.

While it is unfair to criticize the methodology, it is also true that in the reality of installations is not always possible to configure the best infrastructure: just think that within a disk access to data stored in the inner zones is more performance, but it is clear that the rest of the disc is used, then in real life, the hypervisor will be positioned to manage VM performance in these sections that follow.

However, I recommend a careful reading of the review.
