New Microsoft beta products for Hyper-V
Two months into the beta of Hyper-V 2, Microsoft has started the public beta test of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) and Hyper-V Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 R2.
As regards SCVMM, beta introduces, among other things:
- management of the host Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Beta
- improved support for Clustered Shared Volumes (CSV) and migrate to and from SAN clustered hosts (including support for VMs per LUN using CSV)
- Multiple LUN support for iSCSI Target
- support for the "Maintenance Mode" of the host
Regarding the management pack, the support is still incomplete and only allows monitoring of Hyper-V installed on Windows 2008 Server (Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter): there is no support currently for Server Core installations or - V Server 2008.
