Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 and Citrix XenApp
Now in version MR4, I often find the SEP 11 installed with Terminal Server / Citrix XenApp. Obviously SEP requires some tricks to work best.
Citrix has long since published an interesting document with guidelines for the configuration of the virus which has already been talking earlier. However, it seems important to highlight some elements:
- you should create an ad-hoc group within which to enter all XenApp servers (and possibly XenDesktop)
- Unlike previous versions, the exclusion of files and folders is managed by Centralized Exceptions Policy, which are then associated to a group
- Policy by you can block access to the configuration page of the client and possibly remove the tray icon
However, if you remove the tray icon, launching SmcGui.exe each session, a process that closes the published application, it is closed and keeps the session open. To resolve this problem you need SEP 11 MR3 or higher and add a key in the registry:
HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Symantec \ Symantec Endpoint Protection \ SMC
Value = LaunchSmcGui
Type = DWORD
Date = 0
In this way, during the login process is launched and the closing of the session is transparent.
