Citrix Repeater 5.5 release

citrix We all know how the Citrix WANScaler WAN Accelerator: in perfect harmony with the strategies of the house in Fort Lauderdale, comes the first release with the new official name: Citrix Repeater Appliance Software Release 5.5.

Release 5.5 introduces a major innovation, announced some time ago: the acceleration for the MAPI (Outlook). Citrix was one of the first company to sign an agreement with Microsoft to get access to the specific communication protocol between Outlook and Exchange. Through this special optimization, the Citrix Repeater is able to intercept the communication between client and server, end compression and encryption and compress and optimize traffic could thus benefit from the "delta compression", more commonly (and incorrectly) called cache.

The advantages of this type of optimization are obvious if you think a remote location where a user sends an attachment to its neighbor table: without the specific use of this acceleration, the attachment would have to pass twice on the network, while in this case goes only once.

The acceleration of the MAPI protocol is supported with Exchange 2003 and 2007 and with the client Outlook version 2003 and 2007.

The new software version is available for users dodati of Citrix Subscription Advantage directly from the site, after authenticating with a user MyCitrix.
