VMware vSphere 4 Update 1 is available for download, still no View 4

vmware_logo_2009 VMware has released the update in the night 1 for vSphere 4, including the upgrade and vCenter Data Recovery.

The update, as always with upgrades available for existing and new installations for the ISO format, was particularly expected as a prerequisite for installing the new version of VMware View, which is also expected in the night.

Here are some of the news:

  • Support for VMware View 4.0
  • Support for guest systems Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7, x86 and x64 versions
  • Advanced clustering support for Microsoft Windows
  • Support for booting from disks attached to paravirtualized SCSI driver
  • Increased the number of vCPU supported passing from 20 to 25

Unfortunately no news for View 4, the VDI house in Palo Alto that introduces the new protocol PCoIP. Maybe a bug discovered last moment could be the cause of this delay.

For more information:

Update: with regard to the delay on the distribution of View 4, VMware tells me that there is no technical problem on the product, but a minor delay in the packaging and distribution logistics. The files should be available on the night of Monday 23, which means for us Europeans in the morning of Tuesday, November 24.
