Citrix NetScaler VPX also available for VMware

Citrix NetScaler is a powerful tool that can become a key element in the implementation of complex architectures based on XenApp and XenDesktop. The existence of a virtual appliance for VMware vSphere integration of this product makes it even easier.

Citrix NetScaler is the product indicated by the Fort Lauderdale for the delivery of web applications, but not only. Besides being a powerful load balancer (can also getire geographic balance) is able to perform many other functions including caching, compression, SSL offload, as well as being an instrument of security (to protect a number of DoS and provide a powerful Application Firewall). Finally NetScaler Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise integrates and can be used as a gateway for XenDesktop and XenApp to connessionei or SSL VPN terminator.

For example, SSL Offload functions are handled in hardware on the appliance body, and must be handled entirely in software on the Virtual Appliance.

The possibility of managing a virtual appliance with these functions, albeit with some limitations in terms of maximum load, however, opens up interesting scenarios, especially in a market like the Italian installations rich "small" (at least according to the number of interpratazione Americans!).

The ability to use a Citrix NetScaler and dedicated to one single solution becomes very simple because the virtual aplliance can be easily integrated into existing virtual infrastructure, taking advantage of HA or FT, with a cost impact on an order of magnitude lower than the physical solutions.
