IDC publishes data on the server virtualization for Q4 2009

IDC published the results of the virtualization of servers in the world for the last quarter of 2009.

In its "Worldwide Quarterly Server Virtualization Tracker," IDC found an overall increase of virtualization on new installations of 3%, despite an overall reduction of investment in virtualization over the same period in 2008.

Definitely interesting is the analysis of the three main players in the server virtualization. VMware continues to be the leader, finishing first and second place: in the first place is because VMware ESX, with an overall increase of 19% of licenses, while the second place we find VMware Server, despite a drop of nine percentage points.
Excellent results of competitors: Microsoft Hyper-V it marks an increase of 215%, while Citrix XenServer goes so far as to score a 290% growth.
