Come scritto qualche giorno fa, la WorkspaceApp è una componente spesso sottovalutata, tuttavia fondamentale, che nel corso delle release ha aggiunto funzionalità di pari passo con gli sviluppi tecnologici portati sui Virtual Desktop Agent.
Le Early Access Release sono versioni non definitive e per questo Citrix raccomanda di non utilizzarle in produzione per ovvie ragioni: sfortunatamente gli ambienti di laboratorio difficilmente raggiungo la complessità dei sistemi di produzione, quindi al di là di vedere e testare puntualmente qualche nuova feature, difficilmente saremo in grado di vedere la bontà di questa nuova versione fino al suo rilascio definitivo.
Per la WorkspaceApp la cosa è un po’ più semplice, in quanto basta un setup sul mio PC per testare almeno alcune delle novita….
Le versioni LTSR sono sempre particolarmente accattivanti, perché promettono stabilità e affidabilità e consentono di definire una baseline di funzionalità. Guardando la documentazione di questa versione 2402 LTSR e confrontandola con la precedente 2203 LTSR il numero di novità è piuttosto elevata (mi perdonerete il copia/incolla priva di traduzione):

A partire dalla versione 2309, le nuove versioni di Citrix WorkspaceApp richiedono il Framework .NET 6, prerequisito che richiede i privilegi amministrativi per essere installato.
Sono veramente tante le novità introdotte nel corso di questi due anni di rilasci, molte delle quali vanno di pari passo con i VDAgent installati sui worker. Alcune novità tuttavia non sono neanche citate in questo change log, come per esempio il supporto per l’H.265 4:4:4 introdotto dalla versione 2305.
Spiccano i continui aggiornamenti relativi a Microsoft Teams, che con questa versione dovrebbe supportare un nuov WebRTC per migliorare il supporto al nuovo Teams 2.1.
Un’altra novità è sicuramente la presenza del client EPA (EndPoint Analysis) che con un apposito parametro via command line può essere installato assieme alla WorkspaceApp.
